In the beginning God said, “Let there be light.” Spoken words caused all creation to begin. And so it is today. With one simple word spoken in obedience, the whole nation of America could be changed. This is a spiritual principle that the apostle Paul was trying to get us to see for the last 2000 years when he said in Romans (MSG), “But if you see that the job is too big for you, that it’s something only God can do, and you trust him to do it—you could never do it for yourself no matter how hard and long you worked—well, that trusting-him-to-do-it is what gets you set right with God, by God. Sheer gift.” When God changes a nation and its atmosphere, it’s a sheer gift.
God does nothing unless He first tells us: “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants the prophets.” This is why we pray every day for God‘s will to be done in America and on earth. Many times He has asked us to do simple acts of obedience, and suddenly amazing changes occurred! It is this simple obedience that is the sign of us giving ourselves to God’s will to do it.
You can test this simple truth by praying for your family and asking God to fix any situation that needs to be fixed. Just put your total and complete trust in Him to do it (by the way, this means that you will not say anything to anybody). Wait upon God faithfully every day, and if He tells you to do something simple, obey it. You will be amazed at how suddenly a desperate situation disappears!
Now magnify that simple experiment into prayer for the nations of the world. When we are in alignment with heaven, we will certainly come to the day when a national leader will say one word and the entire planet will feel the affects of that word. Just ask those who are old enough to remember when Ronald Reagan said these famous words, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” Literally hundreds of millions of people were affected during the next few months when the Iron Curtain was removed all across Europe.
Today in prayer I was given a simple revelation concerning my complete trust in God in every single detail of my life, and my learning to walk into every day with the realization that I am walking into the future that God has designed ~ and that I have nothing to do with it! Paul put it this way, “That trusting-Him-to-do-it is what gets you set right with God.” What an amazing experience to hear just one word from God. And to obey!
