Faster Than The Speed Of Light

In the realm of physics, the speed of light has become an uncrossable barrier that is accepted by scientists world-wide, very similar to the barrier that existed in Christopher Columbus’ generation. At that time the world believed the earth was flat and if you sailed west from Europe you would fall off the edge of the planet. Today we know how silly those old physical barriers were. But do we understand what type of force is required to break mental barriers that are just as strongly held?

Over five hundred years ago a tremendous creative force was birthed in the spirits of Christian men, it caused them to “dream through” previous barriers regarding art, architecture, literature, and learning. That new era is universally referred to as the Renaissance. During this unique period on the earth, one of the first barriers broken was in 1540, by Gutenberg, when he took two known technologies, the winepress and the coin stamp, and invented the printing press. It took Gutenberg three years to print the first Gutenberg Bible, nearly the same amount of time it took Michelangelo to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, Italy. Men like these broke revolutionary barriers.

Gutenberg released a flood of world knowledge by making books accessible to the common man. Michelangelo created the art of storytelling through painting, instilling the ability to dream and have visions accessible to people of all ages through his visual portrayals of stories in the Bible. Michelangelo’s majestic depictions have been used to guide future dreamers for over five hundred years. Christopher Columbus dreamed about sailing around the world, Leonardo Da Vinci envisioned flying, and the list goes on. It was their divinely inspired imaginations that permanently set the pattern for artists of every human endeavor ~ even affecting such feats of engineering as landing on the moon. So, what will be next?

You and I, divinely chosen representatives of our generation, have been handed a plethora of new barriers. And we have the privilege of breaking them. One of these is the speed of light. Though Einstein was brilliant in so many of his mathematical calculations, many scientists feel his equation of the speed of light is a barrier to human travel. It is true, of course, that it is going to require a new type of generation to see further beyond the restrictions of the speed of light. The reason that I bring up this subject is that I believe that the speed of light was not a limitation regarding many of the incidents mentioned in the Bible.

For example, Jesus met with Mary in the garden and told her not to touch Him because He had not yet ascended to the throne of the Father, to be glorified. According to Galatians 1:20, that place was in deep heaven, somewhere among the galaxies. Yet the Scriptures record that by the evening of the same day Jesus had made it back to the house of His disciples and showed Himself to Thomas. Does that mean those who are filled with the Holy Spirit may be one day capable of traveling to galaxies and back in a matter of hours? So much for the barrier of the speed of light… Many of you reading this article may think I am just talking fantasy. People in Leonardo Da Vinci’s day thought the same thing when they saw his plans regarding flying machines. Yet the ever-present reality of aviation is almost commonplace today.

The source of the ability to break through such barriers is brought about only by faith, and it comes by “hearing the word of God” (Romans 10:17). The Greek word that is used in this Scripture is rhema, which means “to break silence on a subject.” So, when God gives a prophecy that barriers shall be crossed, faith is instantly released into the hearts of whatever scientists God has chosen to perform such accomplishments. Let me say something about how prophetic words are given, because there are some aspects of prophetic impartations that are important to understand.

Prophetic words are usually imparted by angels, and this is shown throughout the Scriptures. Daniel, Moses, and Joseph (the stepfather of Jesus) encountered angels through dreams, visions, and actual meetings. In other instances where Words of God were imparted to people, it was most likely by the work of angels, even where the Bible says they came from God. That’s because angels prefer not to call attention to themselves. They want there to be no doubt that their messages come directly from God, just like kings in ancient times would have their servants deliver messages. But the recipients always knew they were from the king.

Am I again making a frivolous point? Let me explain, because I believe angels give messages to people at assigned places and specified times. This is why many prophets today emphasize the importance of you being at the right place and time, because they realize how important obedience is to angels. I believe it is super-important for you and I to follow the exact instructions when we are commanded by God to be somewhere at a certain time. It also explains why demons spend so much effort to get you distracted by minor things so you will not attend a particular church service or the meeting place of God, and not hear the message that is delivered by God’s prophet. How often people have missed things they have been praying into for years, because they let little foxes eat the tender grapes on their vines. They were diverted just enough to get them off track.

“God, I am so bored!” This has been a thought that has constantly raced through my mind in the last few months. It seems as though all around me the busyness has gone out of my life. I wake up today thinking, “What should I do today?” rather than looking at a busy schedule from an over-stuffed calendar. When I asked the Lord what was going on, He gave me a simple explanation.

When a farmer is getting ready to plant a new crop, he does not want his field filled with weeds as he desires virgin soil. That way the only seed germinated in his field is that of his new crop. The Lord spoke this word to me when I was praying and observing the agricultural property at my mother-in-law’s farm. I saw acres of land that had only one type of seed growing, that of a tomato plant. The little plants looked so vulnerable and small, it seemed that they could be completely destroyed by tiny field mice. Through this simple lesson God showed me how tender His word, dreams, and visions are at their initial inception. Yet, if they are allowed to develop unimpeded in our spirits at this tender stage, they will grow to become strong visions of what God is going to do in our futures.

Last week a young prophet gave a word that God is ready to impart such great things to His people, that they will affect mankind during the next millennium! Just as it happened five hundred years ago, I believe we are entering into a new Renaissance. Now is the time for you and I to realize that precious seedlings are going to be planted in our spirits. But God needs to quiet down our minds so we can receive them. If there ever was a time to hear from God, it is today. But once again, we must be at the right place at the appropriate time. That makes it especially important to make it to that God-designated place.

Let me give you an example of a “place and a time” He recently spoke to me about. Twenty-some years ago God called the prophet Timothy Snodgrass to visit San Francisco, and he felt led to visit our church building (at that time my mother was pastor). He asked respectfully if he could spend some time praying at our altar. While there, the Lord said to him, “The Lord has chosen this piece of real estate, before the Europeans came to America, and here He will give His words that will affect generations to come.” Five years ago I met Timothy Snodgrass, and he told me about the prophecy the Lord gave him. Two years later I had this dream, which was repeated twice:

In the dream I saw oil pouring out of the altar area of our church. We brought in pipes to harness the oil, and soon there were oil tankers driving up alongside our building. We were able to pump out unbelievable amounts of crude oil and it brought great wealth to us. Because I saw the dream twice, I actually thought oil was literally going to be discovered at our church. But after talking with someone from the oil industry, I knew right away that the dream was a spiritual metaphor, and God was trying to show me something in the Spirit that was almost ready to occur. Now I know what it is. I believe this week is the time, and 1970 Ocean Avenue is the place. (There are additional words and dreams that point to other special aspects of this divine appointment that I will not share with you here.) I only want to say that our 3:00 p.m. services, Monday thru Friday, appear to be very important at this juncture.

I realize that the majority of you who read this blog do not live in San Francisco. Still, I am sure you’ve recently had words, dreams, and visions that have pointed to places and times where angelic messages are to be delivered. If not, you might want to start asking God when, and where, He desires to speak to you. I cannot tell you what a privilege it is for us to “ask, seek, and knock.” The first time I sincerely did this, it changed my entire life. It was back in 1987…

The Lord told me, “Seek for a place to pray and I, the Lord, will talk to you, Richard.” For about a month I looked for that special place I thought God was talking about. Then, one day, while I was flying to San Diego, the plane I was on was unexpectedly diverted to Palm Springs. As we were landing, I looked out the window and the Lord pointed out a particular mountain to me. “I will meet you at that mountain one month from now,” I heard Him say. But when I got back to San Francisco, I was embarrassed to tell anyone why I felt I needed to return to Palm Springs. Then, suddenly, a tidal wave of distractions began to make it nearly impossible to leave anyway.

Finally I couldn’t take it anymore. I said to my wife, “I don’t care what happens. I am going to meet with God!” Sandy looked at me, her face glowing with a beautiful smile, and giggled, “I am going with you.” We both went to that mountain and it was there God spoke to me that I was to close my church for forty days and have the members of our congregation bless every home in San Francisco. That event that began in 1988, and was a starting point for the most incredible journeys I have ever been on in my life!

God desires you to also begin a fascinating journey that will completely transform your whole existence ~ and lead into dreams that are so wonderful they will take a millennium to fulfill!
