Some of the most popular television programs today are detective shows. These types of “whodunit” cases have maintained a huge interest by those in pop culture. The highest rated shows are the CSI series, where agents use expensive sophisticated machines to identify clues to who the perpetrators are. When I was a young child I liked reading the Hardy Boy books. But I spun through them so quickly I ended up going through the Nancy Drew series too. My hunger for mysteries being solved motivated me much through my younger days. I did not know at the time this desire in me was placed there by God. It was not until recently I realized, that what I had really been looking for with such intensity was the wonder of God’s PSI: Prophetic Scene Investigation.
Now, in addition to watching shows that investigate crime scenes, God has placed a hunger in my heart to investigate prophetic scenes of the future. This is such a change in motivation, because a crime scene is a direct result of someone who has broken the law and caused major tragedy for a victim. The motivation behind that type of investigation is dark and ugly and, if solved, results in satisfaction for those on the side of the law, but judgment for the guilty. A Prophetic Scene Investigation results in incredible benefits for everyone, because it reveals all of the good things that will happen to those who are involved in the investigative process. And even if a prophesy appears to be negative, the results force a positive change so good comes out of it. What an incredible enterprise to be a part of! It is always a win-win situation, and also fulfills those primal motivations that all of us have had since childhood. The desire for the satisfaction of having our curiosity fulfilled was placed there by God.
PSI all starts with a prophetic promise of what God is about to do. And the greatest revelation in this area is wonderful, because God said, “The Lord does nothing unless He reveals it first to His prophets.” Paul told us that God does nothing but good, and every good thing that He is about to do He likes to first tell to a prophetic person. This is how the Prophetic Scene Investigation begins ~ looking for clues to the future. Wow! This is so exciting! I already feel the same kind of chill bumps I used to experience when I was a kid, as I read the first chapter of a mystery book (and usually would stay up most of the night until I finished the last page of the book). And, boy, this motivation has also spun up my prayer life! It’s almost like an addiction that drives me on, week after week, to find out more of the exciting mysteries God is planning to do!
The next step of Prophetic Scene Investigation is where the investigator learns the fine art of following and interpreting clues. There is a lot to learn in this area and there is no way that I could cover it all in this blog. But let’s start by learning one of the most important secrets to interpreting prophetic clues when they are discovered. Jesus, the Master at PSI, He told us that every prophetic clue is given in a type of divine code, which only certain types of people are able to decipher. Jesus said, “Father, You have hid it from the wise and prudent and have revealed it unto babes.” Jesus also said, “You must become like little children, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven.”
The secret, to making out the meaning of the prophetic clues to your future, is that you must think like a child, have the spirit of a “child, and believe like a “little one”. This is an incredibly powerful secret because (don’t forget) that truth is hidden from wise and prudent people. In other words, God is making great revelations accessible to everybody! It just proves again that God is no “respecter of persons,” because mysteries are revealed and accessible to whoever will. “What time is it? It’s prophetic-duty time!”
The third important principle is how you get the PSI process to begin. That’s simple enough. Jesus said, “Ask, seek and knock.” It is your own inner desire that draws out prophetic clues to your future. I cannot stress how important this is. Prophetic clues can only be discovered through a desire that is motivated by belief. And when this element is present, prophetic clues grow in abundance ~ and they are more valuable than gold, silver, or diamonds. They become the source of life itself.
For example, when Jesus was visiting His hometown He could do no miracles because the people responded with things like, “We know his father and family, and they haven’t done anything great.” Consequently, the people had no desire to hear Jesus. The end result was that He couldn’t do any wonderful things for them. Now let’s look at an event with an opposite outcome. Jesus was on His way to visit the house of Jairus, when a woman (who had been sick with a messy issue of blood for many years) had a prophetic clue given to her. She was passionate and hungry for anything that would help her physical condition. The clue was: “If you touch the hem of His garment you will be healed.” What an incredible secret to the mystery of her life that she discovered!
But the mystery would not have been solved if she had not done something embarrassing and difficult. She had to fight her way through a jostling mass of people, with elbows and hands punching every part of her body. Next, she had to physically get close to the celebrity Jesus, and then actually touch the hem of His garment. But when she did those things, she was immediately healed! Then came the embarrassing revelation, when Jesus called her out of the crowd and almost accused her of drawing away the immense power from His person. Though at first it may have sounded like an accusation, in reality it became a wonderful discovery and revelation of how His power flows.
In this isolated example Jesus revealed to all of us that the power of Prophetic Scene Investigation always flows outward, by intense attraction that is powered by someone’s hunger for their knowledge of what God is about to do. When you realize that this is the secret to all good things that are about to happen to you, it will utterly change your life. Suddenly you will be motivated not only to pray more, but hunger to hear the words of the prophets. They, in turn, will be seeking for dreams and visions that are specifically designed for someone who is childlike ~ like you, for instance. Believe me when I say, it is your desire that will attract them to you. And don’t forget that prophets also have financial needs. Make sure that you do not “muzzle the ox that treads out your corn.”
