God Is In The Details Of Obedience

Sometimes the details can have more ramifications then you would ever expect. This is why obedience to God in small things can be extremely important to your future.

At the beginning of this year I committed to work with David Andrade at the Rose Bowl event called “A Line In The Sand”. About two weeks into the year the Lord gave me a dream. God told me to have our company put together a small video presentation in order to show some of the people who were involved in it. A few weeks later I had another dream. The Lord told me I was supposed to take this video presentation seriously. This meant I had to start up the whole company process. It would be quite an undertaking as our method of producing high-quality productions required about 25 employees to accomplish this particular task. It also meant getting out some of our serious filming equipment, which is very expensive to use.

During this time David Andrade called me and, totally out of the blue, asked me if I would shoot a few videos for” A Line In The Sand”. I was startled because the Lord had already told me to start working on the exact project and I hadn’t told anyone outside our film company about it! However, as the project proceeded, members of our company were hit with numerous spiritual attacks. Key employees became sick at crucial times, some were plagued with mental attacks, others experienced emotional troubles, and three families lost their homes. Worst of all, our set director (who was also our youth pastor) died suddenly! I later told David that the small project, which normally our company would’ve taken about four days to shoot, had now become a major effort that was becoming very expensive to produce.

Every time I tried to cut the delays and jump right into final editing, the Lord would force me (through His loving prodding) to perfect the details. The Lord especially had us focus upon the soundtrack, which meant writing all original material, performing practices, recording in a studio, and bringing in talent to do post-production. After everything was finally said and done, this simple project of producing three one-minute videos and a single one-minute radio ad, ended up taking seven months to complete!

Our company wasn’t the only one struggling with things involving “A Line In The Sand”. David Andrade and his group in Pasadena were having even more intense battles because of delays in the funding the project. As a result, the “powers that be” at the Rose Bowl had cancelled the “A Line In The Sand” event twice ~ but each time reinstated it. Then, a week ago, the city of Pasadena suddenly decided to schedule a high school football game on 11/11/11 at the Rose Bowl ~ the same day as our event. This attack totally blindsided David Andrade. It seemed that the city’s legal advisors felt they were justified in closing down the event, despite the fact that thousands of Christians worldwide had already purchased their travel arrangements to the event!

David and his staff arranged to meet with representatives of the Rose Bowl to work out a solution, when suddenly David contacted me and asked me to send him an invoice of what it cost our company to shoot the four commercials. What was amazing, is that God had told me (back on February 11) to keep detailed tabs on all the expenses that had went into the production ~ even though our company had never intended to charge them for it. Just hours before David’s meeting with the Pasadena people, we faxed a complete detailed invoice to David.

David Andrade walked into that meeting in Pasadena and placed our fax on the table in front of the Rose Bowl representatives. As they read the invoice the atmosphere in the room immediately began to change. Suddenly they recanted their plans for the coinciding football game. They also pledged not to cancel the event again and were so sorry for the misunderstanding. The “A Line In The Sand” is now absolutely secured for 11/11/11!!

Wow! I’m totally amazed at how God was into details that I had no clue were so important. Though satan had planned for a cancellation of the whole event, God knew exactly how to thwart his plans at just the right moment! Sometimes we can be annoyed because God’s word is telling us to do nagging little things, like track our expenses. But as you’ve just seen, sometimes it’s the smallest details that save a big event. A warning scripture that God gave me this week (from the Message Bible) was simply, “You breathe in unbelief and you exhale disobedience”. It’s a desire of my life to always breath in faith and exhale obedience.

Until next week, may God continue to bless you!
