It’s amazing when you see what discoveries and innovations can come to your mind during periods of peace in the midst of troubling storms. The ways of God are very unique and lofty when He exposes them to us. Yet, the more I understand His gentle ways of speaking to us, the more I realize how important it is to catch His whispers and gather them together in order to discover the treasures in the sky-lit breath of the wind of His Spirit.
Moses experienced this as he led the nation of Israel through the 40 years in the wilderness. When they ran out of water, Moses was surrounded by complaints from all 12 tribes. He heard the gentle voice of God say, “Speak to the rock.” Instead, he smote the rock. This is a perfect example of how dangerous the moment can be when God gives you great revelation.
It’s just like Peter walking on the water, Philip being translated, and Abraham’s obedience to God on Mount Carmel (with the ram given him to replace his son’s life). All of these great spiritually epic events relate to a moment of peace in the midst of a storm. All of us are ready to receive very great blessings from God that will bring us financial prosperity ~ that dream mate, new house, cutting-edge career, renaissance church, profitable investment ~ plus have more than enough to leave our grandchildren. God, give us peace in the midst of the storm!
