Since I live in San Francisco, going up and down the many steep hills of my city can sometimes be a precarious event. It is the same way for the person who reads the Bible to calculate God’s will, and then tries to figure out each hill and turn in life, and how much risk to take to still make it out alive. But wait a minute! There’s even a better way to do it! Ride God’s roller coaster of life by simply doing His perfect will every day. And like a child at Disneyland, you’ll become so confident and trusting in Him that you will literally throw your hands in the air and scream for joy, as you safely whip around the perilous corners and hills of life.
Yes, God’s roller coaster of obedience is filled with dramatic ups and downs. But you can experience them as a most exciting and adventurous lifestyle because you know you’re in a controlled environment. God’s way is not only safe and secure, but it is going to take you to a wonderful expected end. This is why God always gives you a vision of your long-term future. Is it a mirage, vision, or just a bunch of daydreams? Well I can assure you, if it is verified from God, it is your future reality.
Back in 1995, on April 9, I got a clear vision of my future reality in full, and it is in movie industry. That was over 18 years ago and since then I have stumbled and fallen on the most up and down racecourse you can imagine. At times it was horrific in its freaky excitement. But the horror I experienced was totally my fault and was caused by my constant desire to take over the steering wheel and drive the car on the adventure. But then I came to the “Line In The Sand” in 2011, the year that God took away my driver’s license. In straight language I quit doing things my way. And like I said, I now feel like a little kid that is on the most exciting roller coaster of life that one could ever imagine. And yes, it is a controlled environment, but it is full of excitement. The hills are steeper, the valleys deeper, and the speed is breathtaking!
Riding on God’s roller coaster of obedience has benefits that have been far beyond my wildest expectations. For example, remember that carefree childlike excitement and adventure you would feel when your parents took you on an exciting vacation adventure? My excitement would burn in my chest and make me feel so full of giddiness that it would last for days. But as I grew older that feeling of giddiness left me and was replaced by a lust for power. I didn’t realize was I was becoming a little “Hitler,” dancing like a child in Germany on the heads the millions of people who were suffering after he got his power.
Wow! That’s an ugly picture but it was reality. That was why my whole flesh had to die. It’s hard to explain but I am still going through a rebirthing process in all that I do in life, as I listen to God’s word every day to do His perfect will. I’m once again feeling that childlike giddiness inside, but not because I’m rich, because I’m smart, or because I won some event. It’s just because I’ve pleased Jesus and did His perfect will. Wow! What inner excitement I feel in my chest each day as I do exactly what He told me to do.
Sometimes the Lord tells me to actually do “nothing”, when I feel that I should be doing “something”. What I mean is that pressures that rise up from my conscious mind constantly surround me, telling me by the reasoning of a righteous man, that I should be doing such and such. But the Lord often says not a word in those situations. Yet I know God’s silence is Him testing me to see if I will be obedient and do “nothing”. The cool thing is, when I am obedient to God’s voice even under such cold circumstances, I still feel the giddiness of a little child rising up inside of me that says, “Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!” I must tell you that this benefit, the personal joy I am experience by fulfilling God’s perfect will, is so thrilling to me that it is better than riches, power, gold, silver, or anything I have desired before.
It has also changed the dynamics of what my family and I experience. Everything we do now is first-class, top of the Mark, the Ritz Carlton of everything. It’s not just dancing with the stars, it’s living with the stars. Even my daily meals are exquisite masterful pieces of culinary art set before me to God’s pleasure. Yay! Let the adventure continue!
