“A Simple Truth With Life-Changing Ramifications”

To lay a strong foundation for the truth that I am about to share with you, I need to have you understand two basic teachings that the Lord gave us in the Scriptures.  The first is, that He wants you to trust Him for every single thing in your life.  This means you are to rest completely in the understanding that God has a perfect plan for you every day ~ that not only covers the mega problems and extreme joys that you are going to face ~ but also completely takes care of the minute details that you have not even bothered to address.  Number two is going to take a little more faith.

You must understand your position in a vast spiritual conspiracy that is surrounding you and trying to steal your faith.  One of the basic principles in the word of God is that you and I are in an unseen war against satan and his forces of darkness.  The purpose of this conflict is for us to obey the daily instructions that are coming from God, and to overcome the incredible obstacles that are placed before us by satan and his minions.  The simple truth that I wish to share with you is the words of Jesus, when He said, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.  Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof.”

Wow!  Jesus landed a bombshell upon us when He said those words because He literally said, “Quit thinking about tomorrow.”  But this does not mean you are suddenly to become an irresponsible person who doesn’t have any plans for the future.  It means you should turn all of your plans for tomorrow over to God, so He can completely handle any problems that might arise.  Think about it this way, this year you are about to hire the most expensive, sophisticated and knowledgeable secretary in the universe, and this super secretary is going to completely handle all of your plans no matter how misguided, dangerous or devastating they are; or joyous and wonderful they may be.

The purpose of this Savior secretary is to make sure that every single day of your life is full of peace and joy, and becomes a luxurious vacation of resting for you.  Yes, this is God’s plan for you.  He said, “All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.”  Of course, the key to unlocking this wonderful lifestyle is found in your faith in trusting Him ~ instead of relying on your own carnal mind to try and figure out your plans for tomorrow.

Now I know what I am saying might seem a bit difficult for some of us who are facing some real serious problems.  Well, I used to think the same way.  But last year really changed me because I was forced to face death head on, and there was absolutely no way I could have preplanned my defense against it.  It was only my simple trust in God for taking care of tomorrow that saved my life ~ not once but three times.  And believe me, each instance was a total miracle!  If I had not totally trusted the Lord in each situation, the outcome could have found me in heaven and my existence on earth ended.

All of my life I have waited for the time when I could be a leader over others, and now that I am 58 years old I have entered into what most people would consider my prime of life.  I have been blessed with a position of responsibility that requires a lot of people to depend upon the decisions I make.  Suddenly, while in this privileged position, God told me to listen to the words of Jesus and give no thought concerning tomorrow!  Christ’s words hit me directly in the face three months ago when I encountered a corporate problem that was as devastating to me as driving a bus full of children down a dead end street with the buildings ablaze on both sides of the road.  During this intense situation the Lord’s words kept ringing back to me in my time of prayer, “Give no thought.”

Using my bus illustration, I kept driving towards the dead end hoping that God had an answer for me before I crashed head on.  A week went by and then a second.  I felt that certain of my close business associates (who knew about the crisis I was facing) were going to think I was an irresponsible leader.  But the truth was, I was waiting on the Lord and He wasn’t saying anything!  Suddenly one morning, as I awoke, the Lord said, “Make an appointment with the parties that you are facing in the conflict.”  In a few days I found my wife and I sitting quietly at a table while we faced a dire situation…

On my way to the meeting I had not given any thought as to what I was going to say, though I knew that the situation at hand was getting worse day by day.  I knew the words that came out of my mouth in this meeting would literally affect the future of hundreds of people.  As the meeting began the Holy Spirit unexpectedly told me to share something with those who were present.  But when I did, the course of the entire meeting was changed, and the solution to the problem was instantly brought to attention and ended up being resolved in a matter of a few minutes!

It was the most awesome result that Sandy and I have ever witnessed.  It was like the school bus had entered into a waterfall of blessings ~ instead of the dangerous fire we previously had been anticipating.  When I walked away from the meeting I felt the friendly smile of the Lord assure me, “I told you I would take care of everything.”  And boy did He!  Having finally achieved the level of responsibility God has given me, I never thought that it would be so easy, joyous, and refreshing to trust in God completely.

This New Year has already brought about an incredible vista of vacationing wonders ~ through the splendor of God’s daily commands.  Sandy and I woke up this morning with such joy as we each giggled about God’s wonderful plans for today ~ one of which was to write you this blog.  All the while we have been writing it we have been laughing, because we have discovered each day is being filled with such incredible joy.  And just think, we are only just beginning the rest of our lives.  It is going to be this way each and every day!  As you might imagine, the vast spiritual conspiracy that previously surrounded us, has become only a distant sound of war.

 When you get accustomed to letting God run your thoughts and life, you’ll find you, too, will not have to deal with the enemy and his distractions.  When Jesus was confronted by the Pharisees, He knew they were part of the same kind of satanic conflict against God’s will, for He said, “I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill Me, because My word hath no place in you.”  In this simple statement you can see that only those who are listening to God’s thoughts are those who are in synchronicity with heaven and have the ability to daily follow His words.

 One more thought to remember.  You are surrounded by a vast conspiracy that is trying to get you to worry about tomorrow, so refuse to take the bait.  As Jesus said (in the first Scripture I quoted in this blog), “Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof.”  Each day God will take care of the evil that you are facing, so don’t try to get ahead of God.  There are plenty of temptations that will try to hook you into thinking about the worries of tomorrow ~ everything from television commercials that get you to worry about sicknesses that you don’t have, relatives who call and try to put curses on you by telling you about your family’s history of illnesses, to fellow workers who can’t wait to tell you their negative gossip.

The best defense against attacks like these against your daily thought life, is to “love bomb” the offenders with God’s wonderful blessings.  It really works!  Get creative and ask God to show you new and refreshing words of love to share with everyone you come in contact with.  I am presenting these simple truths so that every day this year will be a vacation for you.  This is God’s perfect plan for all of us (and if you don’t believe me, read Hebrews chapter four…)
