Get Your Money Bag

I’ve been admonished multiple times by prophets, that little things lead to big things. But I’ve never seen it more vividly than in a series of events surrounding a moneybag. My family and I were staying in a hotel in Bangkok when one night I had a dream. I saw Jesus standing in our hotel’s bathroom and He was holding up a bag with a shoulder strap. He then said to me, “This is your money bag. Make sure you get it…” He then proceeded to give me personal instructions concerning what my family was to do with the money. Since I was scheduled the next day to spend a few days in Hong Kong, I decided to use my free time to drop in a few stores to look for a moneybag that might match the one in my dream. But I didn’t find one.

A year and a half passed since that dream in Thailand. Then a week ago, I went on an unplanned trip to Hong Kong with my family, and while we were out we passed by a shop that sold handbags for men. Out of curiosity I stopped and looked at one. My spirit suddenly leaped within me and felt I needed to buy that particular bag. Looking for another reason to make the purchase, I thought that my iPad 2 would also fit inside it. But the lady in the store informed me that she thought it would be too small, so my family felt that I should forget buying it, as I’d have no other use for it. But that night, as I was going to sleep, the Lord suddenly told me to go back and purchase the bag. When I woke up in the morning I told my wife Sandy about the dream. We decided to ask the Lord for a second confirmation.

Later that day we went back to the same store. But when we found out it was indeed not big enough for my iPad 2, my daughter felt that this was a sign that we shouldn’t spend the money. I admitted the bag was expensive and that it also didn’t make sense to buy it. I felt a little on the silly side, buying something that I didn’t have any other need for. And it would take the last of our traveling money to purchase it. I then asked the Lord one last time. With a confirming “Yes”, I bought the bag.

When we got home to San Francisco, the Lord told me to go down the street from the church that I pastor, and have the leather shop enlarge the mouth of the bag. To my pleasant surprise the owner of the store just happened to have a piece of leather that matched the Italian leather of the handbag, and was able to enlarge the bag easily! I also found out that he was a Spirit-filled Christian and we had many similar experiences that we shared. The next day Rocki and I traveled to Los Angeles to meet with a group of prophets. In the meeting a powerful man of God suddenly grabbed my bag and blurted out, “Oh man of God look at your bag! It is a symbol of God’s prosperity over you. I feel the Holy Spirit when I hold this bag!”

Rocki and I immediately started laughing at each other. This bag was really becoming a story! While we made the long drive back from Los Angeles to San Francisco, Rocki happened to remember the dream I described to her a year and a half ago in Bangkok. Jesus was holding a bag (like the one that I now had) and He told me He was going to fill it with money. In a flash God spoke to me: “Your bag is a prophetic symbol to My people, just as I had the prophets of old hold up prophetic symbols before Israel as a message of what God was going to do for them. I now want you to hold up this money bag before My people and tell them that it’s time for them to get their money bags because God is going to fill them from multiple sources so they will be empowered to do My will in this economy.” I’m including a picture of the bag for you to see. Ask the Lord what you should do.
