At the start of this year God began working on me in a personal private way. The area that has occupied the major part of my attention has been the relationship God has been developing between my children and me. In the past this was the hardest area for me to see. One reason for this blindness had to do with my work concerns. Being the head of three corporations, many people feel they need personal time with me, and often this can be extremely difficult.
As a matter of fact, the situation became so criticial that I found only the Holy Spirit can administrate my time successfully. He does this by leading me in the Spirit. Paul mentioned this in Hebrews when he said there is no condemnation for those that walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh. This isn’t about making rules to obey God, but walking with God though experience. For God’s experiences are truly life-changing events. Paul referred to this in Romans, the fourth chapter, when he wrote:
“So how do we fit what we know of Abraham, our first father in the faith, into this new way of looking at things? If Abraham, by what he did for God, got God to approve him, he could certainly have taken credit for it. But the story we’re given is a God-story, not an Abraham-story. What we read in Scripture is, ‘Abraham entered into what God was doing for him, and that was the turning point. He trusted God to set him right instead of trying to be right on his own.’” (The Message Bible)
I found out with my children (and with everyone else), when I did what God was telling me to do, it became a major turning point in our relationship. It’s time for you to enter into the exciting adventure that God is going to bring you on. Let Him complete His wonderful work in you.
