The Apostle Paul said these weighty words, “To day if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts.” This simple phrase can get lost in the confusion of which day you mean ~ Monday, Friday, or maybe a Sunday? Which day are you really talking about if it’s so important? Any confusion disappears if you think like a child and say, “Today, right now, this moment, I need to listen to that still small voice of God and be pliable to His will, now!” Yes, realize the importance of today.
When a successful upwardly mobile Christian leaves the house, they’re thinking about things like appointments, schedules, meetings, and responsibilities ~ which are all worries. Their focus is on accomplishments and just getting through the day. It’s a different experience when a child-like Christian steps out of their house. They smell the air, see the wonder in the sky, praise God for their beautiful house, and listen for the Lord’s Wind of the Spirit for the next adventure. Even if the thing God is asking them to do is insignificant in comparison to the other pressing needs of the day, it immediately rises to the first priority of their day.
The most monumental events in my life have occurred when I listened to the seemingly casual nudge by the Holy Spirit, like asking me to stop and talk with someone at a restaurant. One time it was agreeing to do an event with someone who then casually asked me to do something, that resulted in a blessing to my whole family. Listen daily to the quiet whisper of the Holy Spirit. It leads to His treasures which He’s inviting you to partake of.
You’ll never come to this understanding until you realize the wonderful importance of today. In the early morning hours, as I lay in bed thinking my prayers to the Lord, I also am preparing for the wonder of the day.
Today the Lord spoke to me about two prophets of God and to pray for their physical bodies. As I prayed about their health I knew my children had also had dreams about this same subject. I realized God had been speaking to our family multiple times about the prophets’ health. Their health was was an increasing priority to Heaven’s agenda.
I have found, as I daily seek His will for His kingdom, my experience each day becomes a technicolor experience and adventure! The other night I was talking with a prayer warrior that prays with us on Periscope. She shared a beautiful experience about how the Holy Spirit invited her to walk down the street in a very rough neighborhood in her town. When she passed by a house and observed signs of young women being used as slaves, she prayed and talked to the Lord about it. A few weeks later, it was closed down and every young girl was set free! Now other women are joining her as she prays and they are seeing significant changes in their city. Oh what wonder the Lord does when we listen to that still small voice today!
“Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, ‘Today if ye will hear His voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:’ When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, ‘They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known My ways.’ So I sware in My wrath, They shall not enter into My rest.) Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called today.”
