Monday morning blog “Cross-pollination of Applications in Your Spirit”
By Richard Gazowsky
An application is a programming download that the Holy Spirit will give you to facilitate your performance doing the perfect will of God. This works exactly like applications work on your iPhone. The uniqueness of the application, “long-suffering”, is that it actually works as a fruit of the Holy Spirit, and just as the taste of the grape is determined by the vine, so is a fruit of the Spirit determined by your connection to God and your connection to the people around you. In the natural world some fruit is bitter though its intention was to be sweet. We may, for example, have sour apples and even sour grapes, until this fruit becomes fully ripened. The intention of the fruit of long-suffering is to be sweet and joyous.
That’s why I do agree that “love” as a fruit of the Spirit is above them all, because God wants every fruit of the Spirit to be flavored with love, joy, and peace. These three applications should flavor every application that operates inside your human interface, which is programmed by the Holy Ghost. As you can see through this example, the application of long-suffering should be incredibly sweet tasting and delicious every single day. The reason for this is because another glorious application will suddenly become present in your spirit and that is the application of patience. The Apostle James said, “Let patience have her perfect work that you may be complete and entire lacking nothing.” This means that your life experience will be filled with its capacity of joy, love, and happiness. Riches will surround you and you will laugh over absolutely nothing if you have the application of patience running constantly in you by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Patience is the secret calculation (unknown to many) that occurs in the realm of the Holy Spirit as He operates the application of long-suffering in you. One scripture opens up the secret by saying, “The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us”. The Holy Spirit in you is actually calculating the amount of glory you can bear by how much suffering you can stand. Two or more sufferings equal more glory. Now, let me make it clear; suffering means neither torture nor inconvenience. It means being able to go through something that is uncomfortable since it’s not what your flesh desired. In the ancient story of a princess and a pea they knew she was a princess because one single pea underneath 14 mattresses made her so uncomfortable that she could not sleep. This is the way the Holy Spirit measures long-suffering in your spirit. Foolish Christians try to suffer so that they can achieve what they think is “greatness” when it is simply their flesh walking out could be a possible realm of the Holy Spirit and they start doing things that are silly and goofy.
God takes your life very seriously. He doesn’t ever try to make you uncomfortable or even embarrass you, but He wants you to do what is best for yourself. So many times He has to change your daily schedule and your expectations so that you end up complete and lacking nothing. To do this you might have to wait an extra-long time, or be incredibly slow at doing something or waiting for the appropriate time and place for something to happen; this is called “long-suffering”. The artists who are working at our church “A Place to Meet Jesus” are building our temporary baptismal pool and the first piece of artwork that they have worked out is one that is going to be put on the backside of the pool against the wall that very few people are likely to see. When I talked to them today, the Lord had just told them to go to a new level of detail on the painting that they had not even considered before. This is the example of long-suffering and this fruit of the Spirit is now making the artwork that these ladies are doing incredibly sweet and lovely for the eyes to behold. Think of a fruit that could be better by ripening into sweetness and compare this to happening in your life as you learn to wait on God. Expect to have the sweet application of patience perform the fruit of the Spirit, long-suffering, in your daily life.
