The purpose of Apple’s current iPhone IOS 7 upgrade is to make the actions of the interface as invisible and unobtrusive as possible ~ a process you are expecting your iPhone to do. The same thing is occurring among Christianity. God wants you, as a Christian, to be logged in ~ communicating directly to the Holy Spirit with as little interference, or could we say unneeded assistance from the local or international ministries you have previously depended on to help you be a better Christian. All such previously depended-upon functions were important in their time. But now the Holy Spirit is upgrading our ability to listen to the voice of God every day.
For example, there is a certain sister, who is always a bundle of joy, who is a member of our local church, A Place To Meet Jesus. At the beginning of the year she heard the Lord give her a random series of numbers and she told another sister, who works at her job, about them. The second sister commented, “They look like lottery numbers”. The first sister later showed me the numbers and we also concluded they were lottery numbers. She then asked me, “Pastor, do you feel is it okay for a Christian to buy a lottery ticket”? I told her that if God tells someone to buy a specific number or ticket, they would be obeying His voice, and any resulting blessing would truly belong to them.
Two months later this same sister was at work and again God began giving her a series of numbers. She quickly jotted them down on a piece of paper and told the same sister she worked with about the new set of numbers the Lord had given her and said she thought she would buy a lottery ticket on her way home after work. But she forgot about purchasing the ticket. When she arrived at work the following Monday her friend asked her if she bought the lottery ticket. She replied that it had slipped her mind. She then looked into her desk drawer, found the piece of paper with the numbers on it, and gave it to her friend. When they looked on the Internet they discovered they were the exact numbers that could have won a $350 million dollar jackpot!
When the two sisters relayed the story to me I became excited because I realized that God was ready to bypass all of the religious hindrances that stand in the way of incredibly large blessings from God. God then had me tell her, “I talked to the child Samuel and I called him out three times. Finally Eli the prophet said, ‘Next time He calls your name, answer and say, “Here am I, Lord.”‘” “So don’t worry, sister,” I said, “God will call you a third time. This time make sure you buy the ticket!”
As you can see by this example, there is profound beauty in simplicity, clarity, and efficiency. And like I said in last week’s blog, true simplicity is derived from so much more than just the absence of clutter, bureaucracy, and hindrances. It’s about bringing order to complexity, or might I say “chaos”, which is the higher form of order that is found in God’s acts of miracles. In the church I pastor in San Francisco I am seeing numerous miracles and blessings occur among the saints. And each miracle is so complex with God’s timing structure (not to mention the myriad of theological exegeses that could result from each occurrence). Yet it is done with simplicity and clarity because God is introducing His new interface IOS 7.
Remember when I began writing to you about this subject, I made it clear that your body is the interface that God uses to communicate with you. The Holy Spirit, through the infilling of the Holy Ghost by the evidence of speaking in other tongues, is the software that allows your interface (your body) to communicate with God Himself. God is now upgrading this software, which is the Holy Spirit inside your belly. All that you have to do is simply speak in tongues today, and suddenly through this simple elegant act, your life will become uncluttered, exciting, and full of unspeakable joy and adventure.
