Moses instructed the people of Israel that they should live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. But moving in to this place can have its problems and confusions. God is always faithful to give you clarity, if you are patient and listen to His instructions. The Lord told me to share this example with you, to help you come into full obedience.
Last week I was listening to a selection of songs while I was praying in the Spirit. My iTunes playlist then came upon a theme song that I remembered was used at The Call, entitled “The Lion Of Judah”. But as I listened to the song, something didn’t appear to be right. My daughter, who was praying with me, happened to mention the same thing. We both passed this off, thinking the song was just old to us, a matter of changing taste.
A week later the same thing happened again, except this time I was with a group of young prophets. They, too, felt something was wrong with the song. I marked it down in my spirit that I would pray about it. The next day I went to a place of prayer and really asked God, what was He trying to tell me about this particular song. When the phrase came up, “We’re a nameless, faceless, placeless tribe,” the Lord suddenly stopped me. “Don’t say that about yourself,” He said. “Look it up in the Scripture and see what it means.”
I pulled out my computer and looked up the words “nameless”, “faceless”, and “placeless” in multiple translations. I discovered that for the last three years I’d been singing and quoting a curse upon myself. In every instance of Scripture it was a curse for a man to lose his name, or place of identity, like Cain, who was a vagabond. Even worse was to lose one’s face, as it says in Job. The fault had been completely mine, as it had been my misinterpretation of the author’s intention of the song. It was also my misinterpretation of a word originally given by Paul Cain.
I feel Paul Cain is one of the greatest prophets alive today. When he saw a vision, over thirty years ago, of stadiums filled with Christians, he saw that the news media didn’t recognize any of the people who were working the miracles. They seemed to be just nameless, faceless people. The Lord was referring to the media’s inability to give glory to man, because they were forced to give all the glory to Jesus Christ.
God was now showing me the error I had made. I had taken this prophetic observance of the news media’s response, and turned it into a goal for my personal life: to be nameless, faceless, placeless ~ as if it was some new revelation of humility. Recently a prophet had warned me about false humility, and now it was becoming very clear what God was talking about. Many times, in my desire to reach greatness for God, Satan has interjected an idea into my mind that can actually become a curse to my future. For example, the minister that San Francisco is named after, took a vow of poverty that has ended up being a curse to many poor people.
We are in a time where it’s very critical for us to listen and obey God’s word on everything. God has patience that is so wonderful He will straighten out the smallest misunderstandings. He knows the tiniest phrases can become dangerous stumbling blocks for our journey through life.
